"Horrible, miserable hospital"

About: Springfield University Hospital (London)

I had the misfortune of visiting a relative who was on a ward at Springfield. The building was old, the staff didn't smile and avoided interaction with the patients and my relative was desperate to leave. I was glad it was him and not me who was the patient.

Dear Anonymous I am the Patient Experience Manager at the Trust and concerned to read your feedback. I would be grateful if you could please make yourself known to me on complaintsmanager@swsltg-tr.nhs.uk and identify the service you are referring to so that I can send your feedback to them to reflect on how they can improve. With regard to the old buildings, the Trust will be launching a major programme to transform and modernise services for the benefit of service users and the wider communities we serve. Many of our buildings are old and not suitable for modern mental health care. Many, including some of our inpatient units, date back to Victorian times. We intend to modernise and build new inpatient services which will give our staff and patients a first class environment to support recovery. Later this year we will be conducting a public consultation so that we can hear the views of the public and service users in order to shape our plans. We would love to keep you informed about our plans for regeneration. If you are interested in finding out more then please register your interest by emailing communications @swlstg-tr.nhs.uk. Alternatively you may wish to join the Trust as a member and even stand as a governor, which means you can influence the future of the Trust. If this is of interest please contact Laurence.whittle@swlstg-tr.nhs.uk.
