I went to A&E this month with a returning problem of an abscess in my belly button, this is the second one I have had, due to key hole surgery I had 3yrs ago.
I waited 2hrs for triage that was ok. I was told I need to see the surgeon that I would have blood taken to check infection and that I would probably be put on a drip.
I waited 7hrs to finally be seen by the surgeon, no blood had been taken and no drip either. The surgeon looked at it, pushed a bit, said I had a mild skin infection. I said no, there is an abscess there, I know there is. I had been under a surgeon for this before, to be told go home take pain killers.
The next day it burst. I went to my own doctor to get this sorted with antibiotics. The surgeon was very offhand and really didn't seem interested. I felt I should have had better treatment than that, I was in such a lot of pain. I didn't know what to do with myself but wait for the inevitable.
