This is what the staff call it as systems break down constantly. Compared to UCLH Royal free e seems to care more about financial status than spending on systems that work. Staff say that computer system as are a mess, they rely mainly on paper records, each department has its own records which are not shared with other soecialities and when you go to out patient's the doctor cannot access letters and results from other soecialities. Computer ordering of tests is a mess and I find their doctors and nurses struggling to find printers and labels. Equipment frequently breaks down, wards are old except ones which have been given a make over and are often dirty, I guess after so many years effective cleaning on old surfaces becomes hard. Overall this gives a scruffy feeling to the place. Many senior staff seem complacent and say the hospital is the best, but looking objectively it feels a little out of date. Maybe they need a freshening up of the hospital and the senior management and staff.
