"Excellent care in Chaldon Ward"

About: East Surrey Hospital / Neurology

(as a relative),

My Mum was admitted to Chaldon Ward via A&E after developing encephalitis. She died this morning having been in a coma throughout her stay in hospital.

In A&E I was kept well informed and the care in Chaldon both of Mum and us as a family was absolutely excellent - more than I could have imagined. Thanks to the whole team with special thanks to Siobhan, Marie, Christian and Bridget - to the family it felt that you loved our Mum.

Having had this level of caring moving to ICU and HDU felt like we had lost something although the nurses were kind the situation requires the staff are more clinical in their care

Dear 'soloweelie'

I am very sorry to hear of your loss, and want to thank you for telling us about your experience at a time of great sadness.

I will pass on your comments to the staff on Chaldon ward, and to the staff on ICU and HDU who might like to reflect on your feedback. Many thanks and I hope the next few days are not too hard for you and your family.

Best wishes, Eloise, Head of Communications.
