"Excellent day-case colonoscopy experience at St Thomas', London"

I recently underwent a colonoscopy in the endoscopy suite at St Thomas' Hospital in Waterloo, London.

The staff were very attentive and friendly. There was a large number of staff in the endoscopy unit, which gave me a sense of reassurance, and allowed the whole experience to go very smoothly.

The doctor performing the procedure was open and friendly, and I was offered the option of seeing the procedure on a screen. I opted to watch it (I am a doctor myself, so was genuinely interested), although I am sure not everybody would like to; even so, I thought it was very good to give people the option to watch or not.

Afterwards, I had my own nurse who helped me to wake up at my own pace and was helped with my bags to a waiting area where my husband picked me up. My husband, who is also a doctor, also commented on how smoothly the department ran. He was particularly impressed by the number of staff.

I would highly recommend this department for a similar procedure.
