"Man asleep in A&E for hours"

About: Royal Bolton Hospital

(as the patient),

I recently attended this dept. A young man was fast asleep on the chairs, with no one with him, he was there when I arrived. He was still there 3 hrs later, as I was leaving, sleeping off probably drink or drugs. He actually slid off the chairs, finished up on the floor, still asleep! He was obviously not getting treatment, or waiting for someone. There was security there, why was he not removed? He was never approached by anyone. It is not the place for a kip, it is a hospital, for sick & injured people.

We have tried to find out what happened in this case but have not been able to find anyone who can recall this. In general if it is felt that someone is being nuisance or is in the department when they should not be, the staff would ask security officers to remove them. We are not sure why this did not happen in this case.
