My mother is just starting on her journey through the dementia care team having just been refered through her GP.
Being her POA I was amazed at how quickly kingston health and social care community health team responded. taking a matter of only about 1 month.
next mum recived a call from a lead dementia care nurse in the community who kindly said he would visit mum in her home. Wow this was fantastic...much better than having to be seen in the hospital.
The nurse Neil was fantastic, so professional and informative but with just the right caring and nice attitude and so helpful - there could not have been a better person for the job. I was very impressed.
The only one downside to the experience was that I do not think the tests were ideally suited to mum for her loss of memory ...they were more suited to people who were not so educated or intelligent as mum and who were in the the throes of mid to deep dementia not like mum who suffers short term memory loss and a few cognitive impairments.
