"Friendly and supportive colonoscopy team"

About: Good Hope Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

Went in for my second colonoscopy at Good Hope to remove some gastrointestinal polyps.

Appointment was on a Saturday morning and I was the only patient around so it felt a bit like being in "Business class"! The staff all started off by introducing themselves by name which I liked, and the doctor talked to me about his treatment plan. Together we agreed that he would try and take the slightly trickier (larger) polyp off if at all possible (with a laser! ) so I wouldn't have to come back again. We also agreed a shared plan on my preferred level of pain relief given discomfort during a previous experience.

All went well, it was a relaxed and calm atmosphere, and they looked after me well in recovery. I can't say I'd recommend a colonoscopy as a particularly fun way to spend a weekend (particularly the prep! ) but if you have to go, this is a great service.

Many thanks for posting your experience in our endoscopy service. This is exactly the level of service we strive for across the hospital & I will make sure this is fed back to the team.

Very best wishes

Richard
