My husband was admitted to ward 15 at Doncaster Royal Infirmary on two occasions. He was admitted for a virus infection on both times. The ward is very noisy, with the staff shouting to tell one another what was needed. I feel that their voices should be kept down; there is enough noise with people being brought in pending assessment. On one occasion, I came to see my husband at 1.45pm, he had not had a wash or given a bowl to wash with, he received no attention at all. The gentleman across from my husband was asking for a water bottle but no one took any notice of him, so I got him one. But when I looked at the side of his bed, there were three bottles all full of urine, which appeared to have been there for some time. When I told the staff, he said he was sorry, but they were short of staff. I told him these things are essential in a ward, to keep the germs down. I saw one of the staff on the phone for twenty minutes not talking about work. For a hospital, I think this is totally unacceptable. In my opinion, more staff are needed on the ward.
"I think more staff needed on this ward"
