"Further reviews being delayed"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Neurology

(as the patient),

I was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2004 and have been on medication for 10yrs. I have kept well over 10yrs with mild symptoms of the medication. In June this year I had a grand mal seizure with further complex partial seuzures in july.

Have continued to have symptoms from the medication since then. I initially went to the Gp in May to say I had not been feeling well since February/March and felt I was no longer agreeing with my medication and was needing reviewed and symptoms were getting worse. The referral was sent and I did not get an appointment until mid August with the Neurologist.

I took a cancellation end september 2014 for an Mri scan. I was to attend the Neurologist in early November having had a 48hr Eeg and the Mri so that my care could be reviewed.

I attended the appointment. No case notes were available. I felt the doctor was very unhelpful and I felt very upset. The doctor wouldn't review my medication or care until my appointment for Eeg which has came in for mid January 15 then delays to attend for further reviews. It is beginning to effect my emotional, financial, mental health and personal life because of the delays. I would like to get back to work as a health professional and I can't do this until I am stabilised with my medication and care being reviewed and it is dragging on.

Dear Nellfield

I am sorry to hear that you have suffered grand mal seizures and for the length wait you have experienced to be reviewed. I apologise that your notes were also not available for your consultation that is unacceptable.

I can fully appreciate how this is affecting your wellbeing and your financial and personal life if you could please call Yvonne Ross our Patient Affairs Manager on 01698366558 and provide her with your details I will investigate your case to see if we can expedite you appointment to allow you to return to work.

Best Wishes

Marion
