"Friendly staff and efficient stay at Tameside"

The staff were very friendly and put me at my ease for my operation to have my gall bladder removed. I was kept informed all the time and the ward was very clean. I felt very well looked after.

I felt relaxed about my stay in Tameside General Hospital. I was admitted four weeks previously as an emergency and stayed in five days (same ward). I was diagnosed and had an operation date before I left.

I was informed of everything on my pre-op appointment two weeks before my operation.

My operation went well and my stay was very comfortable. All in all I feel very well looked after, but I feel the car parking could have been better. This is because there were not enough spaces and my husband had to pay twice as he came twice to visit in one day, which was £3.20.

There could have also been more staff as they were rushed off their feet, but they were very professional and I would like to thank Sister Catherine Edge on S.E.F (previously ward 8), and her staff. They were all very helpful and friendly and very efficient.

Thank you for submitting comments about your stay at Tameside General Hospital earlier this year. I was very pleased to read that you felt very well looked after, that the staff were friendly and put you at your ease, that you were kept well informed and that the ward was clean. I have passed on your comments to the staff concerned, and I know they will be greatly appreciated.

I was sorry to read that you were unhappy with the car parking arrangements. As you may be aware, the hospital is currently undergoing a major rebuilding programme. As well as providing up to the minute clinical facilities for the people of Tameside & Glossop, the scheme also seeks to improve access and parking, although it will be some time before the full benefits are felt. With regard to charges visitor parking, the hospital operates a scheme which reduces the costs in certain circumstances, and it would be worth asking the nurse in charge of the area whether your visitors qualify for this.

I am sorry not to have responded sooner. However, Tameside General Hospital has only recently obtained the facility to reply to comments made on this website.
