The nursing staff on F2 were fantastic. Everyday it was made clear to me which member of nursing staff would have responsibility for me. Everything that I wanted to happen, i.e. the removal of my gallbladder, occurred. I underwent several tests prior to its removal but ultimately my operation has been a success. When I first arrived at Royal Hallamshire, after referral from my GP, I was kept waiting in EAU from 11am till 9pm before a bed was allocated. During this time I was on a trolley which was uncomfortable. It also took junior staff five attempts to insert a cannula into my arm.
The only thing I would like to add is that I was diagnosed with problems with my gallbladder w/c 19/02/07. I was diagnosed after 2 days in hospital with the plan to remove my gallbladder at a later date. Only 3 days later I was back in hospital. I know that funds are tight but I would have thought it to be much more customer effective to have kept me in the first time and operated then.
I have nothing but admiration for the nursing staff at the Royal Hallamshire hospital, on both occasions that I was admitted the staff were helpful and caring. Nothing was to much trouble for them and they are a credit to the hospital.
Particular thanks to the following nurses on F2: Sister Lorraine, who took time to explain the gallbladder procedure, Rachel, Niaomi, Sarah, Angela, Lindsay and also to assistant Lola.
