Went through a and e at Wishaw General with an abscess to a ward, to be told of a surgeon that it wasn't an abscess and was just inflammation and I wouldn't get surgery the following day.
My husband stated we were not happy at what we were told and asked to be admitted, to which I was. Another surgeon saw me the following morning to confirm it was an abscess and I was to get emergency surgery that day.
I heard while I was in recovery the staff saying they never knew I had asthma when I was struggling to breath. The next morning I had a crushing pain in my chest through to my back and could not get out the bed. I told the surgeon this and he just ignored me telling him this, and proceeded to check my abscess which was covered with a mepore, and said it was fine and I can go home. He never examined the wound at all.
Another doctor listened to my complaints of pain and was concerned I had a clot in my lung. I was sent for tests and it was discovered I had pneumonia, to which I needed oxygen. This same surgeon was sending me home the next day again. I find this sheer neglect.
I was then moved to another ward to be told that I had been given the wrong dose of steroids. I was given way too much and I am 27 weeks pregnant which makes it worse. I was then given the wrong dose of antibiotics and had to inform the nurse of this.
My lunch and dinner was not sent up to myself one day and had to go asking for this. My husband had called the ward to ask if I could get my dinner, only for the charge nurse to come to my room shouting at me for him calling when they are busy.
I found my stay in this hospital and the level of care to be unacceptable and will be taking this further.
