"Ward 9 Wansbeck General Hospital"

About: Wansbeck Hospital

If you have any family members going on this ward, watch them like a hawk! If you're loved one is unable to communicate then they are in he'll. The majority of the nurses and ward sisters act as if it's a chore and beyond what they are there for if they actually have to provide care and help people in what is their hour of need. My family and I are actually having to insist that my mam is showered as they are 'too busy' to do this off their own back, they yell and shout at patients, show irritation when 'instructions' aren't followed immediately and ignore everything that is told to them by family members. If possible, ensure you are there every hour you are able to. I have actually started taking my mam off the ward and out of the hospital to feed her as the staff can't be bothered to sit with her for 5 minutes to go through the daily menu with her and just keep chucking a jacket potato in front of her, against the dieticians instructions by the way. Please post this on the website, everyone should have the full picture not just the good stories that make this place seem like a caring ward.

Dear sir / madam, Thank you very much for sharing this - it is essential that we act quickly on the feedback you have given us here. Firstly I want to say how sorry I am to hear that the care provided to your Mum on ward 9 has been so unacceptable for you and your family. I was quite shocked to read your review if I'm honest and i know the stroke team will be extremely upset to hear how let down you feel. The staff behaviours you describe are of great concern to us - we believe that have no place in any of our hospitals. you will appreciate how important it is to us to get to the bottom of exactly what has happened by investigating this immediately. Please do get in touch with me directly at Annie.laverty@nhct.nhs.uk I do hope you will feel able to work with us on this - many thanks again for your time, With best wishes, Annie
