In early February my doctor sent myself to the Medical Assessment at Wishaw General Hospital with abdominal pain, suspected racked stomach. At 15: 00 I was seen by Dr McGuiness and when he examined me, he informed me that he would have to get in touch with surgical. I was also put on a drip as I was badly dehydrated. I was examined by Dr Fraser the surgeon, who requested a x-ray as he suspected a ruptured bowel or possible appendix. After my x-ray it was found I had ruptured my bowel and had diverticulitis. I was examined by consultant Mr Pareck who requested a CT Scan and more fluids to be introduced. After the CT Scan it confirmed I had ruptured my bowel and I had diverticulitis. I was informed by Mr Pareck that I would have part of my bowel removed (Hartmans) and when I wake up I will have a stoma, which would be reversed later after everything had healed. After the surgery I was admitted to the ACCU (Adult Critical Care Unit) for 5 days and then ward 18 and on the 8 days after admission I was discharged.
I owe miy life to Dr McGuiness, Dr Fraser and Mr Pareck.
