My father has Parkinsons disease and dementia with Lewy bodies. this is his second stint in hospital, for chest infection and related issues.
my fathers dementia has worsened over the last year and he hides things and would wander, after his admission to D4 West we consequently found out not by any staff may I add, but a patient in the opposite bed, my father had wandered off the ward and out into the main corridor by the lifts.
I approached the nurse about this and I was told he was high risk and he had wandered of the ward on numerous occasions. but they managed to get him back in.
I noted my father was also in the ward right opposite the main door, which anyone can enter or leave just by pushing the door including my father who is not aware of his surroundings. why is there no security voice system in place to get in and out of D4 west, as there is in casualty. my father is supposed to be in safe environment. we as a family feel otherwise. my mother is his carer and was told curtly to phone to make an appointment to see the doctor about my fathers care, the nurse would not give any information which again I found startling. he is still there at present I feel uneasy as does my mother who is his carer.
"Feel uneasy about my fathers care"
