"Phlebotomy services, Childwall"

About: Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust The Royal Liverpool University Hospital / General medicine

(as other),

I had a blood test at Childwall a few weeks ago. Afterwards I was admitted to the Royal hospital with a serious infection which I believe is due to the blood test. I have just been discharged after 2 weeks in hospital and am now under the care of district nurses as I still need dressings to be changed from the infection. I have been left with permanent kidney damage and been referred to the kidney clinic at the Royal. I am still taking antibiotics to fight the infection. I was told by a doctor I the hospital that it is optional to use swabs, and swabs weren't used.

I want to ensure that staff at the phlebotomy clinic are aware of what has happened, and will contact the PALS service to discuss this (recorded by Healthwatch Liverpool on behalf of patient).

Thank you for your comment. The Royal doesn't run community phlebotomy services, these are managed by Liverpool Community Health. You can find out more how about to feedback to them here: http://www.liverpoolcommunityhealth.nhs.uk/get-in-touch/compliments_comments_complaints.htm

Hope this helps. Thanks.
