"A very friendly School Nurse"

About: Locala Community Partnerships CIC / School nursing Kirklees

(as the patient),

I became involved with the school nurse following my family being referred to social services. I first met the nurse at the first meeting and again at the next meeting. The school nurse started to work with myself following an incident that happened to myself which is very sensitive. Bev the nurse came to see me in school and introduced herself. She was friendly and very kind. She did not ask me too many question and explained what she already knew. Bev then told me that she would like to help and support me and maybe complete a referral for some counselling and support because I was also self-harming.

Bev completed a referral to CAMHS and came into school and showed me what she had put into the referral. There was nothing that said everything that had happened was my fault this meant a lot to me has everyone else was saying I was asking for it and knew what I was doing. At no time has Bev ever judged me has a person she has always listened to what I have said and given me strategies and ways to cope.

I have met with Bev every week for the last month or so and she has always come in with a smile and made me laugh. I value my sessions with Bev because this is one person I can talk to and never talk over me. She will if she feels I have said something she will challenge me and ask me a little bit more but never ever says I am to blame.

I have seen Bev today and she was so positive with me she told me I looked really well and that she was so happy to see me smile. This has made me feel so much better in myself has a person I am now looking forward and not back.

Please can a say what an amazing school nurse Bev is and that I really really do value the support and encouragement she has given to me over the last few weeks.

THANK YOU Bev you are a STAR *

Hello

Wow - what amazing feedback for Bev - thank you so much for taking the time to write.

I am so pleased to hear that during some very difficult times you have had the support you needed from your school nurse. It sounds as though this has made a real difference to you and your well being.

I hope things continue to feel better for you, and I am sure that Bev will continue to work with you whilst you still need her.

Best wishes for a happy future.

Emma
