In June I had an appointment with a Nurse to discuss symptoms associated with Barrett's Oesophagus. I arrived twenty minutes early and within a couple minutes of sitting in the waiting area my name was called. I sat for another couple of minutes before a member of staff asked me to enter a room. I do not remember the member of staff introducing themselves or explaining their role.
I asked for some guidance regarding the stomach symptoms but the tone of the consultation from the start was unhelpful and negative. The answers were short and not very personal. I could have found the answers on the internet.
The staff attitude appeared to be there are your symptoms, live with it. When I asked the question could I do something else to help improve the situation, the answer was a short No. I left Derriford before my actual appointment time and not impressed!
