I have never been in a hospital where the ward was in such a chaos!
What a nightmare!
I asked for a bedpan at 8.45pm, which was supplied, told they would be back shortly.
I had had a full hip replacement that afternoon, so was 95% immobile.
I could reach the alarm monitor.
Then when eventually I heard a nurse, I asked them for assistance, only to be told, the apron they were wearing was specifically for tea/coffee duties and that they were not prepared to change.
Eventually a nurse came to my assistance at 10.15, the nurse said I needed to be catharatised, which was inserted at 1.15am.
By which time was I not only in pain from the surgery, but from my 5 hour escapade just to pass urine.
Please be aware that if you are going onto ward 9, there are only 2 staff nurses and 1 auxillary for 29 patients - no doctors or porters etc. From 8pm to 6am.
My experience became much worse, but have no more word allowance to relay the incidents.
