I was unfortunate enough to be diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2012 at the age of 43. However I consider myself very fortunate to have been cared for by the EXCELLENT breast care team at Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield, part of the Heart of England Trust Foundation. The two wonderful Consultants who have cared for me, Mr Ingle and Mr Khalil. Both are totally dedicated to patient care. When I was first diagnosed it was such a shock but I was helped through with the support of the breast care nurses especially Suzanne and Elaine I am really not sure how I would have coped without their support at such an awful time in my life. Suzanne even rang me at 7 in the evening one day to return my call she had obviously had a busy day but still made sure that she got back to me before she left work for the day. Clinics are always busy but I never felt rushed and was always given as much time at my aappointment as I needed. I have had several operations and have felt totally cared for by the lovely Mr Khalil and his fantastic team. Also I am very grateful to all staff on the Sheldon unit where I had my chemotherapy treatment. They were always busy but made you feel at ease during treatment not just helping with the physical symptoms but the mental ones too. We are lucky that all these people choose to work in the NHS and I really don't think I would have had any better care anywhere else. I will be forever thankful for the care and support I have received during a horrible chapter in my life. Good Hope really is a centre of Excellence for breast cancer care in my opinion.
