My 94 year old mum suffered a slight stroke a week ago and I was so impressed with the care she received. Care workers, paramedics, nurses, auxiliaries, doctors & the Stroke Team in A & E were all so kind, caring and efficient, as were all the staff on Ward 110.
The staff at mum's residential home Berkeley House quickly assessed her and called the ambulance at 3. 15pm. Mum was then seen by all the above and was settled on the Stroke Ward 110 by 8. 15pm. They gave an excellent service which was very reassuring.
I was aware of the Blue Butterfly scheme for patients with dementia. This wasn't offered but as soon as I requested it on Ward 110, the nurse put a discreet butterfly sticker on mum's wristband and above her bed. What could be improved? Implement the Blue Butterfly on admission to A&E.
