My GP referred me to University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire for investigation of a breast lump. Appointment came for two weeks after, at the Breast Clinic. I was first seen in outpatients and examined by the breast care nurse, who was confident and reassuring. She then sent me round to the breast clinic for a mammogram and ultrasound.
The receptionist was a joy, cheerful and friendly...just the sort of person you want to see at an anxious time. While waiting to be called in, I observed that she was the same with everyone she dealt with.
The mammogram was uncomfortable and functional, and the technician could have been warmer rather than what felt like they were just going through the motions in a hurry. The doctor who then carried out the follow up ultrasound was friendly and reassuring, told me that the mammogram and ultrasound were ok and I am thankful that the final result was not cancer.
My overall experience of the breast care team at UHCW was good and positive. Thank you!
