I visited Orpington Clinic for a minor procedure on my back. After the procedure, I was informed that I couldn’t get my stitches removed there and that I would have to get them removed at my GP practice.
I called my GP who told me there was a 17-day wait for an appointment, which I found excessive, so I went back to the center, where I was redirected to Orpington Hospital, who in the end sent me back to the center.
I came back for a 2nd time and the doctor who performed the surgery happened to be there and finally agreed to see me if I would come back in 7 days.
I went back to the clinic on the agreed date, only to find that the doctor had already left!
Luckily there was a nurse who was lovely enough to agree to remove my stitches. The procedure went marvelous.
Whilst I can’t fault the medical care that I have received here (the staff and level of care were excellent) I can’t help but think that this whole thing could have just been avoided if they had agreed to remove my stitches from the beginning. I am in my 70s and living with Alzheimer’s and I found this whole process to be tiring and ineffective.
