Since the Chaplin Road phlebotomy service was stopped it has become very difficult to find a reasonable replacement. Today I visited Vale Farm Health Centre for a fasting blood test and having been told on the phone that they do not accept bookings even for fasting tests I turned up at 08.20. The waiting room was already very crowded. I had my test at 09.55 - one and a half hours later. I consider this to be unacceptable.
I was told there were two phlebotomists on duty, but one only dealt with registered patients of the clinic. I hope the Trust will take some action to improve the present very poor facilities for blood testing in this area and in particular. I do not have any complaints about the receptionists at the clinic who work under great pressure, or the phlebotomist themself.
