What could be improved
I had a laparoscopy in the Day Case Unit. Within 3 days I noticed an infection at the site. After being given oral antibiotics the symptoms worsened. I had to visit Thames Doc at Epsom who advised me that I would have to be admitted back to hospital for IV antibiotics. He rang the on call doctor but Epsom do not take these emergencies, I was admitted to St. Helier for 4 days and received IV antibiotics there but St. Helier did not have any notes on my operation or about me and advised me to go back to my surgeon when I was discharged. I have rung today to be told that I have an outpatient appointment for 7th June. Today my wound has started to discharge again. I didn't realise that if I had the laparoscopy at Epsom I could not be admitted back if there were any complications. It seems like there is no after care if you do have any problems.
