I was admitted for a planned caesarean section for my second child last Tuesday. The surgery went well and from the moment I left the theatre the care from the midwives was fantastic. A lovely midwife had my new born baby latched to my breast half an hour after surgery and the support for breast feeding continued throughout my stay. I was very nauseous after surgery and on the ward the midwives were so kind and let me do things at my own pace. My care through the night, led by a student midwife, was excellent with regular checks and updates which were quiet and respectful of the small amounts of sleep new mothers and infants need. I was discharged the next day and felt confident to breast feed, my pain was under control and I felt I had had a very positive experience. Thank you to everyone on floor 5 who work so tirelessly to support new mums and their babies.
"A very positive experience"
