I have attended the macular eye clinic over a period of several months for Lucentis injections...into my eyes (I know it sounds horrible but it's not that bad....better than a filling at the dentist). The staff have been excellent, but I wanted to make a comment that I hope the medical teams will pick up. During the main part of my treatment, I was treated by a physician, and on one occasion an individual under that physicians supervision. For these initial series of injections I was treated gently, with a good 'bedside manner', talked through the whole process, and as a result suffered very little after effects. When my supplementary injections began, a different physician took over. The treatment was 'not as gentle' (we are talking eyes here, not an injection into a limb!) and as a result I suffered significant discomfort, to the extent that I was, to all intents and purposes, blind for a day and a half on each occasion! My last two injections were done by the original physician, and a different physician, and once again the treatment was gentle, and as a consequence, after effect free! Now, I am not saying that the 'less gentle' physician was by any means less competent, just that from a user experience perspective, I suffered economic and physical/emotional consequences that maybe don't get factored into clinical feedback. Just a thought, that 'user experience' be something we are free to feedback without restriction, and without having to use a public review. The feedback forms are woefully inadequate for a more complete response!! (e.g. above)...and why is the eye department not mentioned in the department list (as of 2/12/2016) below, I've had to say Diabetic services!!
