"Excellent treatment at Macclesfield hospital"

About: Macclesfield District General Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I went into Macclesfield District Hospital for the removal of my gall bladder. I stayed on surgical ward 2. The treatment that I received was excellent, very clean wards, including the beds been cleaned properly. I was very pleased with everything, the medical care and nursing care was very good and nothing was too much trouble.

The only suggestion that I have to improve hospital stays, concerns the food. The food is ordered the day before, so because the person who was in the bed before me had not ordered any food for the next day, I did not receive any. I went hours without any food and was not even offered some toast. This needs to change and some food made available for people who have operations late in the day and then have to wait until the next morning for food.

Thank you for sharing with us your positive experience on Ward 2. We are particularly pleased to hear that you found the cleanliness to be of such a high standard. We aim to provide the best possible medical and nursing care, and we are delighted to read your comments.

At Macclesfield Hospital we have a system in place to ensure that all patients have food at mealtimes, regardless of what time they are admitted. Extra meals can be ordered at short notice, and night staff have access to hot and cold meals after the kitchens close at 9pm. We would like to apologise for your experience and to assure you that we will raise the issue with our staff to ensure that this does not happen again.
