Having attended the outpatients department a few times now, I am shocked by the attitude of the consultant I see. They are not willing to listen to facts, they had already made up their mind on a diagnosis with some cursory questions, without any further tests or analysis, when clearly they are not looking at the bigger picture of my condition and symptoms. Not even looking at evidence presented to them by me on facts.
I was made to feel totally unimportant, there was no dignity and respect, I was not listened to even when challenging on the diagnosis; they were not interested in the level of daily pain which I have to endure and not interested in treating it.
The initial diagnosis was wrong as the original actions taken had no effect on the pain, but they are sticking to this anyway instead of finding a root cause.
They were not concerned with me as a patient, just concerned with getting me out of the consulting room after a few minutes.
Having seen a few specialists from other hospitals and being referred to this hospital (as they were deemed the centre of excellence) I am shocked.
Having suffered with head pain, numbness etc for nearly 2 years now and am still no further on, I am angry that I have been treated this way when I was supposed to be getting some answers and treatment.
I have left the hospital being told I don't need to come back and also that I should carry on taking the medication I was on from the previous hospital (which didn't work) and that was that.
What is the point of even coming to this hospital then?
The treatment I have received so far as a patient does no where near the outstanding status the Trust has been awarded, and the consultant particularly left me so angry I burst into tears in the car park with frustration.
I am not being listened to or taken seriously at all.
Shame on you Walton Centre and your consultants in Outpatients.
I am taking this further with the hospital and hope to get some answers but it should not have to come to this, for a patient to fight to get a proper diagnosis and treatment!
Just a word about other staff the reception staff and porters were lovely and are a credit to the trust however.
"Consultant rude and disinterested, disgusting..."
