"Antinatal care"

About: Watford General Hospital / Maternity

I chose Watford hospital for my maternity care and was referred to the Lavender team for support as i had prevous post natal depression. I attended the team back in September having difficulties at work. I was beginning to experience stress and anxiety with the situation. I was told i would be supported. I was told i would be seen every 2 weeks by a nurse at my local unit and receive some therapy.

I met the nurse quickly to give my details.

They never called me. I went to the GP who referred me back to the Lavender team however i did not have their contact details on my notes and Watford triage just told me to phone Hemel but the team are not always in clinic.

The situation deteriorated further at work and i saw the GP and community midwife. Anyway i eventually through going of sick and basically stressing myself out and leaving work asap managed to get through October. I did not want to attend the Lavender team anymore.

The community midwife said i did not have to and they spoke to them.

I then also declined my anti D, which i was called relentlessly about.

Suddenly in December now the community midwife is refering back to the symptoms i had in October even though i am now fine.

I now the day before Christmas have been told i could be referred to social services for safe guarding because of the midwifes concerns. I contacted PALS in writing at the beginning of December but have yet to recieve a reply. I have now changed to another hospital care. The anti natal care i have recieved at Watford has actually damaged me and left me in worse situation before the birth if my child. Hopefully i can now prove i am a capable parent the support did not come when i needed it and asked for it but the consequences of asking for it will take a long time to resolve.
