I have just got home from Ward 6B. This ward is wonderful. Modern, clean, light, airy, private, windows that open, tv you don't have to pay for, separate rooms, en suite bathrooms, good food and refreshments. The most important thing is the staff, as always, and this team are amazing! From the surgical team, to the nurses, the physiotherapists, the health care assistants, to the housekeepers, every single person was kind, compassionate, friendly, warm, reassuring. There was mixed sexes but you have a private room and the night staff are always around. All my visitors thought it felt like a private hospital. I did have to wait a while on the buzzer a few times. But these members of staff are very busy and it's not because they aren't trying to get to you. A couple of times the person cleaning touched a gloved hand from something dirty to something clean (ie bin, then bed tray) but I asked for an anti bacterial wipe. I know I am very fussy with germs. And one nurse was a little short and brief with me but the nurse was very busy. A smile would have helped but I understand the nurse is trying to do a stressful job. I almost don't want to mention those things though as I was 99% happy with everything and as I said, the staff were so kind and warm. I'm not allowed to mention names but there were two nurses in particular who made my stay almost enjoyable! (And a laminectomy is not enjoyable!) so to the nurse who is going to use a white noise app and the nurse who is from watercress land- thank you thank you thank you!!!! I so appreciate you and all the hard work you do. I think you're all amazing!
