Dear Sir/Madam,

I was sorry to read about your sister’s time at our emergency department. It is very important to us as a Trust that our staff are polite and helpful to all of our patients, so I am disappointed that you found one of our nurses to be unfriendly and your comments will be passed to the emergency team for reflection.

Our admissions to the emergency department over the winter period have been extremely high, which in turn has caused high pressure on beds. We are acutely aware of the problem and please be assured that we are continuously working to ensure we have the best and most efficient systems are in place. Of course this is not an excuse for receiving an unhelpful response to a question and I am sorry for this.

I do hope your sister received the treatment that she needed.

Kind regards,

Jessica
