Why does it take ten days for an x-ray result to be sent to a GP, when you get one immediately if your in a and e getting one done? Surely in this day and age with internet, it could be sent to a GP straight away?

Dear “Tayside bob”

Thank you for your enquiry. X-rays in the A&E Department are looked at immediately by the doctors in that department to enable them to provide treatment and are subsequently reported by Radiologists (doctors specially trained to interpret x-rays) in the Radiology Department.

X-rays for General Practitioners (GPs) are looked at and reported by Radiologists, with the report sent out by post to the GPs. Unfortunately there is currently no electronic link to allow for the transmission of x-ray reports back to GP records and we therefore suggest that patients wait 10 days to allow for the current process to take place.

Thanks for your helpful reply ,all you staff that work in the NHS and private sector do a fantastic job but the technology piece of my message was the the whole point and in no way a criticism of the great jobs you all do., Just sàying the technology should be available in this day and age to ensure a swift response to an x-ray
