We had fantastic treatment in A and E, the medical assesment unit and theatre.
The ITU staff were the most incredible, talented, professional bunch of people I have ever met.
They saved my husbands life.
Then we went to Haygarth Ward,,
Oh my goodness. What a disgrace.
Understaffed, clearly underfunded and over subscribed.
The nurses are worked like slaves.
They hadn't had time to review my husbands notes and attempted to treat him with no prior knowledge of his dietary requirements, his hospital neurosis, his anxiety and potential brain damage.
He was dumped on the ward and we were left to our own devices.
It is so appalling the only way forward now is for him to discharge himself.
Although extremely risky it is far less risky than having him remain on this ward.
There is a severe lack of professional, medically trained nurses.
The health care assistants are being expected to perform tasks way beyond their skill levels.
The call buttons go unanswered leading to patients having accidents in the bed.
Meds and food arrive late if at all.
Communication with families of new arrivals is non existent.
We have been waiting 2 days now for an update.
We have been waiting even longer for his physio.
We dont blame the poor overworked staff at all but we do blame the management who obviously have no idea of the extreme shortfalls on this ward.
It is in desperate need of more staff and better equipment.
Shame on you RUH.
"Amazing itu haygarth ward is a disgrace"
