An urgent small bowel study was requested by my consultant at the end of October as I was unable to eat without severe pain in my lower abdomen. I was told the test would happen within two weeks.
After a week without hearing anything, I contacted the x-ray department to be told I was 'not on the system'. A few days later I went into the department and arranged an appointment - for four weeks after the initial request.
I then discovered the test I was booked in for was a different one to the what my consultant had requested. After more contact with the department, the test was changed and rearranged for the same week.
The x-ray department staff were always very helpful when I contacted them and - despite a 90 minute wait - the test went very smoothly.
However, at my follow-up outpatients appointment ten days after the test, the report was unavailable and my doctor could not discuss a treatment plan with me.
I am now waiting for a new appointment in the New Year to review the test and my treatment, at least ten weeks after the test was requested. I am still unable to eat and unsure of why.
