I was admitted to 4B with undiagnosed pelvic pain.
The care and attention I was given was impeccable, despite the ward being beyond full with no available beds and referrals flowing in from A&E, as well as others like myself coming from GPs. As my bloods showed a v high level of infection (crp 218 on admission and up to 349 next day) I was given a number of scans and tests to work toward a diagnosis.
At each stage I was fully informed as to the nature of the investigation, and given clear information about the results.
The guidelines for leaving reviews state that names will be removed so I won't include the names but some of the nursing team on 4B are absolute heroes. Responding quickly and calmly whenever 'buzzed' by a patient, introducing themselves and explaining their role clearly and most making time for a comforting chat in passing.
Initially no clear cause was apparent but a referral to a Gynae consultant brought clarity, excellent team work and a very grateful patient. The rest of my stay was on 3E, a much quieter ward. I will always be very grateful to the team there for giving me such a high level of care and clear understanding of what was going on with my body.
Recovery and treatment not yet complete but following such a positive experience I have a high level of trust that my on going care will be of the same high quality.
"Excellent care on 4B & 3E"
