My son required a Blue light ambulance on Sunday morning due to Asthma Attack. I called 999 and received an excellent response from the dispatcher who did a fantastic job on telephone- good attitude and a caring one to that. The first responder attended within 5mins and commenced my son on oxygen straight away after intial assessment. He required hospital assessment so admininstered Nebuliser also. The Paramedics had to make a good 17mile journey from Stonehaven which attended within 10mins. They took him to A+E Childrens and was assessed within 10mins by the Doctor and was given more nebuliser. The nursing staff were absolutely brilliant and couldnt ask for anything better. He was transferred to the Paediatric Assessment unit for further assessment where he improved but unfortunately took another slight attack and required an overnight stay for observation. The Dr was fantastic and very thorough. NHS Staff get criticised a lot but never good stories are noted.

Hi Stu27, I am delighted that all went well for you during what sounds like a very scary time for you and your son. I hope that your son is recovering well and is getting back to normal. Its so nice for staff to hear when they get things right as I know how hard they work and I am very grateful to you for taking the time to post such positive feedback. I will of course share this with A&E and PAU staff. Thanks.

I am so sorry to read about your son's need for an ambulance when he suffered an asthma attack. This must have an extremely distressing incident for your son and family alike.

I am delighted to read that your call for an ambulance through the 999 system resulted in speedy response from the ambulance control centre you spoke to on the phone in a caring and reassuring manner and despatching the nearest available resources to attend.

Our frontline paramedics and technicians are trained to a high level to recognise a need for speedy care and to provide the very best of care. Thank you for highlighting the good care your son recieved at home and during his journey to hospital.

I would very much like to pass on your feedback to the ambulance staff who spoke to you on the phone and also to the crews who attended.
