I was in the Western General Hospital Day Bed Suite getting a cystoscopy to check why I keep having recurrent UTI's and other urinary problems. From the minute I walked in the receptionist was really helpful and cheery as I must admit I was very anxious. I then met with the staff nurse her name was Shona and she was so kind she done my obs and explained the procedure. When it was time to go into the theatre the staff were absolutely brilliant. Dr McKay was very reassuring and spoke through everything she was doing which helped so much. I was finding it quite uncomfortable and I let her know and she made me feel more relaxed. The two nurses in the theatre were so good at making me feel less anxious and supported me throughout the procedure. I am honestly so grateful to them all. The nursing staff were all very cheery and kept asking if I was okay. When I was taken back to the ward after the support worker Dougie was kind and checked I was okay with having a male do the residual bladder scan and I was fine with it but it was good that I was given choice. This is very important as most people are quite wary over gender when it comes to quite private things. I cannot fault the staff everything they done made the process a lot more bearable. I just wanted to pass this on as they really do deserve the praise and they really are a fab team. Your all a credit to the NHS and your department.
