I am under the care of a gynaecologist at Stobhill Hospital and have been for many years. He is consistently brilliant in his care and treatment of me and my health issues.
I am a patient at a GP surgery in Dennistoun, and have been for many years and they, on the other hand, are not consistent, or brilliant when treating me and seem not to care.
My gynaecologist has asked me to come off all HRT and have weekly blood testing done for 4-6 weeks to see if he can fathom out what is causing me to continue having health issues.
In order to save me a train ride, a bus journey and a mile long walk to get to Stobhill Hospital and the same to get home, my gynaecologist asked me to arrange with my GP practice to have these bloods done. As the hospital and the GP surgery share the same results system, the results would be readily available for my gynaecologist when I return to his clinic at the end of July.
My GP surgery, 5 minutes walk from my house, has refused to carry out the blood tests saying that it is a secondary care issue. So I have to undertake the long journey to Stobhill as detailed above as I do not drive.
My GP knows that I have been diagnosed with the painful condition palmoplantar pustulosis which means that my hands and soles of my feet are covered in very painful pustules which make walking difficult and sore and yet they are prepared to send me all the way to the hospital at Stobhill to have some bloods taken every week for the next 4-6 weeks.
My GP knows that I struggle with health issues and I am a “frequent flyer” at the surgery trying to get to the bottom of various health issues – I am pro-active when it comes to my health and yet they want to send me all the way to the hospital as “it’s a secondary care issue”.
My GP knows that I am suffering from fatigue, difficulty walking, numbness in my leg and have no diagnosis and they seem intent in not persevering with testing any further so I will NEVER get a diagnosis and yet, they are unwilling to take my blood and want to send me all the way to Stobhill as “it’s a secondary care issue”.
This has to stop! I am a patient. I get treated at the GP surgery and I get treated at the hospital. Both doctors are responsible for my care and treatment so why is it only one of them actually takes an interest and is pro-active in my care and treatment and wants to see my health improve?
My GP consistently refuses to prescribe treatments requested by my gynaecologist – I have to go without the low dose Diazepam which may keep me calm enough on a monthly basis to not have a complete breakdown.
I have to pay privately for Testosterone HRT as my GP refuses to prescribe it.
I have to suffer with “low-normal” B12 symptoms as my GP refuses to undertake further tests and treat the symptoms, not the results. Both my parents are B12 deficient and on treatment and I have a host of symptoms but the GP refuses to treat them – with a VITAMIN.
I am exhausted. I am so tired fighting to regain my health. I am fed up being treated like a pain, not a patient, by the GP surgery. I need help to regain my health. Where’s the compassion, the caring nature, the patient matters attitude?
Please help me feel well again.
"Please help me feel well again."
