"Dreadful experience on Ward 10 WGH"

About: Wansbeck Hospital / General surgery

I was admitted to Northumbria Specialist Emergeny Care Hospital in Cramlington in January 2016, where I had excellent care from lovely caring staff. I was transferred after 2 days to Wansbeck hospital ward 10 two days later. My health went downhill there and after 6 days I was transferred back to Cramlington again as an emergency. I found the staff on ward 10 extremely uncaring, unsympathetic and indifferent. Many things happened that were not acceptable. I placed a complaint 2 months later with PALS. I will never willingly be admitted to Wansbeck General Hospital again because if my experience on Ward 10.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with me.

While it is comforting to know that the care you received at The Northumbria was excellent, you will understand why it’s so disappointing to hear that this compassionate care did not continue for you when you were transferred to Wansbeck.

I am extremely sorry that our staff did not care for you in the way you were expecting and that you felt so let down by their attitude and behaviours.

As an organisation we are keen to understand why this was the case and to act on all feedback received.

I’m grateful that you raised your concerns in the form of a complaint – it is essential that we learn about what exactly happened during your time on ward 10 in order to understand what caused you to lose faith in the hospital altogether and influence your choices in the future. Thank you for working with us on this.

I will in addition be sharing your experience with the team involved so they can reflect on this and prevent this from happening again in the future.
