My son was admitted on Saturday after a tonsillectomy on Tuesday.
A & E was a bit long winded but once we were seen the treatment we received was amazing.
My son was transferred to Ward 14, Surgical high care, he was placed in a bay with three other male patients, two of whom were very nice.
It wasn't lng before he was transferred to a side room as the bloods had come back showing he had glandular fever.
It was nigh on switch over and the nurse going off duty could see how concerned I was and said that I would be able to come in before visiting to see the ENT specialist.
My husband and I were still there when the nurse caring for him came in. The nurse could see how worried I was and said that as my son was in a side room I could stay over if I wanted to.
Of course I agreed.
Throughout the night the nurse came in, kept changing his IV drip, checking on him, ensuring his pain relief was given on time.
Despite being run off their feet, the nurse made me coffees throughout the night and was really kind.
The day shift came on and I was concerned that maybe my presence was not going to go down well.
How wrong I was, the staff on this ward are a credit to the NHS, they showed concern for not only my son but for me.
Offering to make me toast for breakfast to insisting on giving me something for lunch.
I cannot begin to name each and every member of staff that looked after my son, sadly the whole thing has become a blur.
There were many members of staff, other nurses too, again sadly their names have slipped my mind.
As I said in my card, I thank you so much you are all amazing xx
"Ward 14 - WOW !"
