"Broken tendons"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Mr Thomas at Crosshouse hospital has been marvelous given the earlier misdiagnosis with my hand.

My surgery in West Kilbride is reluctant to send people for x-rays, whatever their reason. However, an x-ray would have shown that I had severed my tendons as a result of a broken wrist. The problem started when my small finger ‘dropped’, no action taken, then the second finger dropped which is when I was referred to Crosshouse.

Mt Thomas has arranged physiotherapy which is still ongoing, because of this I can do a lot more with my hand, I can see a huge improvement. All the worry of gradually losing the use of my hand has gone.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear aquariusgn79,

This must have been quite scary but I am so glad that you are getting the help you need now and your hand is greatly improved. We sometimes don't realise just how much we rely on our hands functioning fully.

I will pass your post to Mr Thomas and the physiotherapists. I am sure they will also be delighted that you are coming on so well now.

Thank you for taking time to share this with us and I hope you continue to progress to a full recovery,

Best wishes,

Eunice
