"Resuscitation"

About: NHS Shetland

(as a carer),

Having read the story about one person's experiences after being questioned about resuscitation I thought it worth sharing mine.

The senior social care worker in charge of my late mother's care plan asked about my mother's wishes, and I said I didn't like to ask her.

On a visit to her doctor (I was present) she asked her what her wishes were, and although she was suffering with dementia she very clearly understood what she was being asked and very lucidly declared that she did not wish to be resuscitated.

I think it is far more appropriate for the doctor to be asking rather than the relative.
