My wife has recently had a baby 3weeks ago. Birth etc went fine as was a planned C-Section. The after care was good. It was however, 2 weeks later when had to be admitted back to ashgrove ward as was struggling with bladder problems. The GP had admitted to the ward at 5pm and it was 1am before anyone even came to assess her. I can understand completely that emergencies come first. The midwives were quite rude and my wife was made to feel like it was her fault she was in. Anytime I had been in the room the attitude was disgraceful. If she buzzed for assistance, the response would be with a grudge. I felt the care and consideration towards my wife was very poorly given.
There was times that the hygiene was disgraceful, for example, she asked for the bed sheets to be changed and 5 hours later they still wasn't done so I had to physically go to the reception and say for a bed sheet and I would do it myself thinking they would say that they would come and do it. No! ! they handed me a bedsheet and said that would be fine - we are all too busy.
My wife was in a room alone with my daughter. you would think a clinical member of staff would pop there head in to see if everything was ok. She was in a considerable amount of pain so was getting tramadol morphine dihydrocodeine and co-codomal so was pretty spaced out and was left in a room with a 3 week old baby.
