After 10 years of failed treatments for my Ankylosing spondylitis and Fibromyalgia, I was referred to the pain management clinic at the Royal Berks Hospital . It was decided along with my consultant that because I was on so many strong pain killers that really were not working any more for me, that I would begin lidocaine infusion treatment every 6 months to see if I could reduce my pain killers and other medicines if the lidocaine infusions would help my pain to be reduced and in turn give me my life back. I was incredibly lucky as with in 2 days my pain had really reduced and did so far up to 10 weeks later and with then up to the 6month mark between 80-40% pain relief depending on the amount of activity I carried out during the day. I'm so looking forward to my my infusion as my pain has returned and I hope I get longer pain relief next time. I would say to anyone offered this treatment to have a go. The staff were fantastic and any worries I had at my this infusion were soon taken away and if any thing inspired me to go on and lose 2 stones in weight which in it's self helps my pain to ease as I will weigh less. I hope this treatment will always be available as without it I would be in constant pain , and now at least I can look to my future with the hope of a job and being able to return to work. Many thanks to the pain management team at the RBH .
