I was admitted into Monklands District General Hospital suffering from a sore head and double vision. Due to the symptoms I was very nervous and apprehensive about my health.
As part of my treatment I required to Attend Hairmyres Hospital for eye tests and treatment. I was to be transported there by Patient Transport. I was apprehensive about my journey as I sat alone in my room.
A Driver came to my Ward and introduced herself as Jan. She was reassuring and a real people person who took time to find out about me. She established that I had still a Needle in my arm and had staff remove it for my own safety.
She escorted me to the ambulance and secured me in the seat. I expected to be driven without conversation to East Kilbride but far from it. Jan spoke away showing an interest in me and what I did sports wise and this made the journey so short for me as Jan with her people skills kept the conversation going and interesting.
I told her that when I go to Hospital I always had someone with me as I'm very hard of hearing which she took from me in conversation on the journey. At the Hospital she had to go elsewhere but booked me in and brought to the Clerks attention my hearing difficulty which saw a note placed on my folder.
My stay was elongated as I had 6 people to see and Jan checked back in with me and reassured me that the delay was not a problem.
This is my letter to commend Jan as a member of Staff with excellent People Skills who has given me a right good impression of the valuable service you provide.
Thank you Patient Transfer for making my temporary transfer go without a hitch and a real pleasant experience.
"a real pleasant experience"
