My 2year old son was admitted to Paediatric assessment unit with a diagnosed condition called tracheomalacia. This is not a condition that some people know about. He was struggling with his breathing and getting quite distressed. The consultant of PAU came and reviewed him where the decision was made to admit him to the High Dependancy Unit at Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital. This was quite a distressing and stressful time for his mother and Myself. Seeing him wired to oxygen masks and observations wires. He was there for 3 days where he was downgraded to the Medical Ward for observation overnight.
The reason for adding my story is to highlight the importance of Praising the staff that overlooked my son's care. I would like to say a massive thanks to HDU nursing staff especially Michelle ( nursing auxiliary) who took the time and effort to having a giggle with my son and make him feel that bit more relaxed of what was a traumatic time for him. Also a thank you to Sarah, Lauren and Nicole who took care of him also.
A thank you to Nikki, Michelle and there was another one who's name I never got. Also Dr Oxley, Dr brooker(his consultant) were exceptional in what would have been a busy weekend.
It's not often that praise is given to nursing and medical teams within a clinical setting.
Thank you..
