I am a patient within the Dialysis unit at Monklands Hospital however, when I go on Holiday I receive my Dialysis at Crosshouse Hospital as it is the closest to my caravan location. I honestly have no criticism of this unit whatsoever the arrival lounge is warm and comfortable, with a TV on operation with the latest early ironing news etc, the nurse who is looking after you comes and escorts you to your machine which is ready and waiting, once on the machine you are presented. with warm toast tea/ coffee very welcome if you have had a long journey, The staff are a very attentive and pleasant, the Ward itself is comfortably lit and the chairs are very functional and pleasant to sit on. The arrival mid morning of hot soup and sandwiches certainly perks you up absolutely excellent. The operation of this facility to me is 100%and gets 10/10.
I think it would not be fair if I did not mention Monklands, arrival lounge is a cold corridor, with a small number chairs, at the appointed time we all rush in at once and wait for machines to be operational, Refreshments come approx2 hrs after arrival in the form of cold sandwiches tea/coffee followed by the same at 11am if any left, the constant run of air conditioning makes the ward very cold for the patient, not so for the staff who would appear overstretched. I think 1x5 patients is a lot.
In my opinion, Crosshouse runs like a well-oiled machine compared to my experiences in Monklands. My only real credit at Monklands goes to the nurses who try their best with what they have. Room for improvement here 4/10 and that's because of the nurses.
