Our 4 year old started fitting and was rushed in to the BGH as an emergency.
It was an extremely scary position for us to be in as parents seeing our young son fitting and displaying symptoms of meningitis but we felt reassured by the clinicians providing his care and were kept up to date as to the next steps in his care.
This was our sons first visit to hospital and his stay was made enjoyable and not scary due to the compassionate and professional care he received from all the staff and as parents we felt the same. He was in isolation for 48 hours but the care and interaction from the ward staff and Paediatric Team looking after him did not make this feel scary at all.
Everyone involved in his care from Admission to Discharge including the paramedics, SAS, A&E, ITU, Paediatric Team and Ward staff waiting for him when he was brought into A&E to the staff that were subsequently involved in his care were professional, friendly, informative, compassionate and reassuring, we have nothing but thanks and gratitude for you all.
We are so lucky to have such a fantastic hospital with dedicated staff in our Community.
